STEPS TO CONSIDER WHEN SEARCHING FOR A JOB Step 1 First think of the role; the area you want to work in and the location you would like to find yourself in. Don’t be too narrow so you don’t rule yourself out of options and not too broad so you don’t become overwhelmed. Give yourself time to make the choice because you need to select a job that excites you. Step 2 Make an inventory of where you want to work. Are there local companies that fit in this or where are they located? Do you mind relocating? Do a good search on the internet but be realistic, is that an opportunity you can find considering your background and experience. Step 3 Make an inventory of jobs that meets your vision and excites you. From these jobs, you can then choose the vacancies available & for which you want to apply. If this is your first job, you are going to be looking for an entry-level role. Without experience, you will be wasting your time if you apply for a managerial role. Step 4 Different organizations use different job titles; it is sometimes difficult to understand the level the position is from one organization to the other. Look out for key words such as ‘Administrator', 'Assistant', 'Senior'; etc. Step 5 Make sure you read a job advert carefully and thoroughly. Take note of important information such as the company name, contact details, application instructions and deadline. These will be needed later on in your application...
